Applies to the concept of ensuring electrical safety in hazardous areas by means of type of protection ‘e’ and offers guidance in the installation and maintenance of protected apparatus in hazardous areas. It does not apply to underground mining, but may be applied to certain surface mining installations. For the purpose of the Standard, explosion risks due to the presence of combustible gases and vapour only are considered.
