The objective of this research project is to provide ASHRAE with increased expertise in providing design guidance for ventilation of commercial countertop appliances, and to obtain a better understanding of the impacts on Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ) and energy when determining whether an appliance should be hooded with a Type II hood, or as allowed by the International Mechanical Code, heat and moisture removed from certain electric appliances by the facility’s HVAC system.
