DE-93-07-5 — Analysis on Improvement of Residential Building Performance by Multizone Thermal and Airflow Model

Many factors affect the indoor environment of residential buildings. Among those factors are thermal insulation, airtightness, and the space-heating patterns. The influence of these factors on indoor thermal environment and spaceheating load is investigated by a multizone thermal and airflow simulation including mutual radiation. The computer simulation was done on a model of a detached house with 10 rooms. The results obtained from this study show the degree of the effect of these factors on thermal environment and heating load.
